So here’s an update on the “New and improved” Paul’s Famous Hot Dogs. We frequent this establishment every now and then. When we pulled up on our bike we were greeted with a newly paved parking lot and exterior. I complimented the young staff behind the counter. I ordered 2 chili dogs and cheese fries. My husband ordered 2 chili and cheese dogs and plain fries. As I watched the two young girls prepare my food one girl picked up a squirt bottle filled with cold cheese spread. She started putting it on the french fries and I said “whoa that’s enough cheese. That cheese isn’t even hot!” She said “no we don’t use hot cheese.” I said “since when?” She giggled and didn’t answer, she also put the cold cheese on my husband‘s chili dogs. we went outside and sat down. Our hotdogs were barely lukewarm and of course the cold cheese on my french fries was pretty gross. You guys need to step it up. No one likes cold cheese out of a squirt bottle put on their french fries and their chili dog. These hotdogs were renowned throughout the area, but I must say I don’t think I’ll ever be back. I spoke to many of our friends who had the same experience. You need to cook it properly and your hotdogs need to be served hot and your buns need to be steamed. My granddaughter and I had chicken salad sandwiches on toasted wheat bread and fries and a drink. They were excellent and filling. Bottles were ice cold. Paul's Place is a legendary spot. They make hot dogs their way and that's awesome. We go quite frequently and the food is always made to order. The hot dogs come in good top slice buns. The hot dogs have a good taste and the chili is pretty good. The slaw looks and taste like it is made in house. The slaw gets 4 stars. Everything else is good but not great. I can see why it is so popular in the area it is in. I am not a fan of the relish but you may like it. The remodel of the building is nice. The outside looks great. I would try again if in the area. The reason for the 3 stars is because its good just not great and the competition I have given 4 and 5 stars are much better. Well, you don't stay in business for almost 100 years for nothing!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hot Dogs; About as American as you can get, and served just the way you like them- mustard and ketchup, or chili and slaw and onions-- oh, but I just had to try their homemade relish! So different, and SO delicious! And: Cokes in a Glass Bottle! The place is decorated with fun memorabilia, the service is friendly and fast! Old folks, and families with little kids all enjoyed lunch. .there is also a breakfast menu. They got a facelift. Fixed up the place and looks clean and bright. Hot dogs served on a steamed bun. Local tradition to go to Pauls place and there is always a bottle of their relish in our fridge. We sit outside on picnic tables when we go. Simple and quick
