A staple of the west Rapid community for decades the atmosphere has never really changed, which makes it impressive. Employees embrace the culture, and the service is almost always good to the point it's a shock if anyone ever has a bad day when doing their job. The food is always edible and good. Portion sizes, though, are on the small side. So if you're overly hungry, it's either going to cost for more, or you may have to go elsewhere. Unfortunately our server seemed to be trying to seat everyone in one small area which made it feel very crowded, the food was good besides the fries and chicken tenders,both were firm and not full of flavor. Certain meals come with the soup and salad bar which is definitely worth trying! If we’re ever back in this area I’d definitely eat here again! All around a great experience every time I bring my family here. The salad bar is a great deal to add to your main course for only about 5 dollars at the time of this review. Everything is very clean and the staff treat you like family. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a seat, which speaks volumes on how good and popular this restaurant is. We will be returning soon! A really nice family restaurant with good food and friendly service. Feels like a small-town restaurant with servers who talk to you like they've known you always. Our food was excellent. They have some great breakfast skillets and their pancakes are especially good. My family came to this restaurant on a weekday. Our server seemed like she was just having an off day and had to be reminded a couple of times what we needed. Otherwise she was very nice. The salad bar I think is one of the better salad bars in rapid city and they usually have two decent soups to choose from. The ham and bean soup is what I had and it was good. This restaurant has very bright lighting compared with the older one on Lacrosse, and I’m not sure why. This place is what Perkins wish they could be! The staff is friendly and courteous. The booths are comfortable and are cleaned before you get there. They have a nice menu layout with plenty of variety. The cost of said meal is fair and quite reasonable for what you get! Best of all, the food is tasty and good quality! The negative would be the soup and salad bar sometimes can be germ trap when they are swamped with customers and can't maintain the area as well as they should. This is a really solid choice for a family wholesome night out meal!
