This used to be one of my favorite local restaurants and the margaritas and friendly atmosphere at the bar really were the best! I have been an over 10 year loyal customer but sadly no more. Over the last few years, staffing has really changed and things are consistently gone down hill. Our last visit, last week, we had two full margaritas that tasted like water and after two fulls we should have known if there was tequila in them and there definitely wasnt! The bartenders were slow to get attention and order food, the street tacos were very dry and not tasty, and we did not receive some of the food we ordered. I am super sad to say that I don't think we will be returning again as this visit was really the last straw. I miss the old Franklin Inn! Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
The beginning of the night went well when we were seated sooner than the quoted time. This was a birthday dinner, and I had been between Billy's Roadhouse and Franklin Inn. Having heard so many incredible things about Franklin Inn - and having been to BR before - I opted to go with the Franklin Inn. I ordered a pineapple hibiscus margarita to split with my mom and, when asked if we wanted the half or full, responded "half." My mother also replied with "half." The waitress brought out a full and when I asked about the sizing (mainly because I wanted to know what the "full" looked like if she brought us the half), she stated it was a full and that that's what she had written down. My dad and brother both replied we had said half but that it wasn't a big deal. Server errors happen, but ordinarily, when the customer orders a half size, but is brought a full because of said error, the lcost should reflect the half order; it did not. While this wasn't a big deal, the lack of attention, combined with the insanely under seasoned and flavorless fajitas made for a very underwhelming experience. I am not sure if the veggie/portobello fajitas are supposed to be served the way they were, but they tasted like they had been boiled in water straight from a bag. No salt, fat, acid, or heat. It was a truly disappointing experience, but I am hopeful it was a fluke and would return - but would not order the veggie fajitas. The food was pretty good I had the Hibiscus tacos and the salsa sampler, they have a nice vegetarian selection. The tortillas were some of the freshest I've ever had. My partner said his chicken burrito was a little underseasoned. The service was as good as it could get for how busy they were but if you're looking for a quiet meal this is not the place to go. I've been to dive bars on a Saturday night that were quieter than this place, I left with a headache. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

Wings 5 of 5 - amazing. Great taste, excellent spice, perfectly fried. Among the best I’ve ever had. Margaritas 5 of 5 - strong and great flavor. Excellent happy hour deals. The group tried the hibiscus, mango, and classic. Other food 4 of 5 - The shredded beef chimichanga was delicious, not amazing but good. Birra tacos, good portion size, good flavor. Sides 3 of 5 - not bad just average. Had fajita vegetables, bean and corn salad, and rice. I would go back for the wings and the margaritas. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

Dina was our waitress. She was very attentive and accomodating. She made great recommendations for drinks and meals. We ordered house (Traditional) margaritas. I recommend to order one jar of margarita per two people. Two full jars of maragaritas was too much for two people. They were very strong, but we can appreciate that. We prefer a little sweeter, so we ordered a few shots of agave syrup(gave us indigestion later, we think) to mix in. Phil, the lead bartender delivered it himself. Phil explained their margarita recipe is half tequila, half triple sec and margarita mix. We talked for a few. Awesome guy; invite him for drinks. @justlightthefire Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50

My neighbor is a bartender there, and I've never been there before. I'm from Florida so there's a lot of new places I haven't been to yet. I drive by the Franklin Inn so many times in a month, and I still hadn't gone there. I saw it was recently their 45th birthday for being open, so I figured I'd stop in and try em finally. It was absolutely packed!!! Like sardines, so this place is definitely a local favorite. I talked to quite a few locals at the bar, since I was by myself. My neighbor made me a strawberry Mason jar margarita. Man was I feeling good. Chips and salsa were good, could have been a little spicier. I had the grilled chicken street tacos, corn tortillas, some sort of cabbage slaw and some creamy green sauce that was spicy but not crazy. Honestly the tacos were a solid 7/10. Chicken was a little dry but overall, with the special rice and fajita veggies, it was a great meal. I definitely want to go back during non-event times, and actually sit down in their restaurant area, to try some of their other items as well. And the drinks were great!!! The tap water had an odd taste that was hard to overlook. As for the appetizers, the Queso dipping sauce lacked depth and excitement—it was simply too plain for my liking. The inconsistency in the seasoning of the chips was also jarring, with some being overly salty, seemingly holding about 5g of salt on a single chip. Overall, my experience fell short of expectations, and I find it difficult to recommend this place based on this visit. Franklin Inn is a casual Mexican restaurant. It serves a variety of appetizers, entrees, sides, desserts, and drinks. The restaurant is currently trying to hire employees for many positions, and that understaffing might explain the long waits. I waited 50 minutes for my food to be brought out. My waitress had a warm personality and seemed to care about her customers. As for the food, I liked the tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa. My vegetable fajita was reasonably good. My husband did not enjoy his steak fajita at all, and he said that it lacked flavor. Our taste buds like only slightly spicy foods, but we recommend that the cooks here add more seasoning.

I've been here once before. We got here for dinner on a Tuesday night around 5:45 when it was already packed. We didn't have to wait too long to get a small table. They had a limit on the amount of time you could stay - maybe 75 minutes? It seemed like plenty of time but they were so busy that it took a while to get our orders placed and food received so I felt a little irritating at that point. We were able to eat quickly and get done though. The way staff was nice. And the food was tasty. Overall I think it is The best tasting Mexican food I've had north of Pittsburgh, so I imagine we'll probably be back.
