Since COVID they've really bounced back. I was happy to see the staff were happy to be there the food was good but stood at the front door for almost 8 minutes. We visit Cracker Barrel pretty often and usually have good service and great food. This time my French toast was burnt and our waiter didn't get to our table until he gave us our check. He did ask "if I wanted new French toast" however my son was already done eating and we were ready to go. Disappointed this time. Had the momma's special which consists of 3 pancakes,eggs and sailor bacon. The pancakes are amazing. The server brought us little jars of syrup that were warm! She said that she can't stand cold syrup on her pancakes so she wanted to make sure mine was warm. I must admit that took the pancakes to another taste level. Went here for brunch with family on Sunday December 3rd. I ordered the biscuit benny. The first bite tasted like something comparable to an ashtray. The bacon was totally burned. I immediately notified our waitress, who was doing a fantastic job the entire duration of our visit so she totally gets 5 stars. Unfortunately I had to sit there watching my family eat waiting for them to remedy this catastrophe of a meal. What did the manager do for me? Not a penny worth of compensation on our bill, just made me wait 10 minutes so they could remake my meal. All I needed was decent bacon. So I sat there watching my family eat with a taste of burnt food in my mouth. Their idea of fixing the situation was a complete fail. Overall, good experience. Everything tasted great. My only disappointment and what kept this from being 5 stars was the fact that the cheesecake pancakes barely had any cheesecake filling in them compared to what you see on their hundreds of billboards. I never expect anything at a restaurant to look 100% like the advertisement but this was blatant laziness or just being cheap. Nevertheless, our waitress was happy to get me a side of the cheesecake filling. I would have been pretty upset if I had ordered carry out to discover this at home though. I came in around 9:20pm. Just finished an 11hr drive and was starving but didn't want to be "that customer" that comes in right before closing. I made sure to check first if it was okay to dine in, I was okay with take out too lit of courtesy. The staff were all super friendly. I felt so welcome in a way I've never experienced. My server was Jack, he was excellent, looked out for me and gave me some of his top 3 picks, which I ended up picking one of them, the Meatloaf. The food was delicious, shout outs to the chef and staff in the kitchen, the food came out so fast and especially during when you guys were preparing to close, thank you all so much. The cashier (I'm sorry I didn't get her name) was excellent as well. She was efficient and courteous, fantastic customer service. If you've read this far and still debating whether or not to come? Great place to eat. Great midwestern home style hospitality and food. The food is all stuff like your grandma would make you home made, before chain fast food places existed. Breakfast, lunch, supper, all great items to choose from and you’ll be hard pressed to get something you don’t like. It’s hard to get a bad meal here. Wait staff is generally on top of things and performing well also. Prices are also fair and in line with what you’d expect. About the only problem I’ve encountered is the inconvenience of a wait, because everyone else beat you here, and tables are full. If so, while you wait, these places have a gift shop with a lot of cool and cute items, and most will carry some things local to the area as well. If you’ve never been to one, put it on your list.
