Volcano Burgers is an institution in Los Alamitos. Located right across the high school, it's been there for more than half a century. The burgers are good, not spectacularly good, like some other burger joints in Orange County (Bunz, Grinderz, etc. See my other reviews), but definitely way better than McDonald's, Burger King, and the other large chains). The burgers are nicely charbroiled, and the sauce is rather traditional for this type of place. In fact, Volcano burgers remind me a lot of Astroburger, a "historical" small chain in Hollywood and L.A. (no idea if it still exists...) Two burgers this place is famous for is the Volcano Burger (with pastrami on top of the patty) and the Avocado Burger (not vegan, the avocado slice lies on top of a classic meat patty. Fries and onion rings are nothing to write home about: decent, but a little dry for my tastes. Really really great burgers. I love the turkey burger and the zucchini fries are outstanding. There is a reason why there is always a line of cars in the drive through and that's because they're hamburgers are simply top-notch. try it you won't be disappointed. Great local spot. Solid menu selection, fast and great service, good parking. I got a double cheeseburger, fries and onion rings and while the onion rings are not something to write home about, the quality of the burger and the crispyness of the fries is gonna get me to come back for sure.
