Val's brownies and lemon bars were incredible! The brownies were firm on the bottom and gooey on the top (they paired well with a Pitt Street beer). We also enjoyed some Carolina Kettle chips that were crab boiled flavored. Oh my, this is our new favorite chip! We brought home a tomato pie as well and are sure it will be amazing!

3.5 stars. Came in for cake, left with a slice of cake and banana pudding ($11 each, a bit pricey). S'mores cake was dry in many spots and icing was way too sweet. It looked appealing but the taste didn't do much for me. The banana pudding was tasty though. Never seen anyone make it with cream cheese as an ingredient, but it was pleasantly good. They didn't have a lot of chocolate cakes and s'mores wouldn't have been my first choice, but it was the only chocolate cake they actually had.

The best cakes in the area. The owners are customer friendly, and they welcome you with a smile. I will be returning very soon.
We purchased a lemon Berry cheesecake cake on friday 01/21/2022 for my mother's 90th birthday, and she was more than pleased. We had to slice it small for the get-together we had for her to make it last. The only bakery that we will use. Thank you for the above and beyond.

Stopped by on 1/17/24, and my I didn't leave disappointed. My plan was to pick up one dessert (carrot cake); however, I left with several desserts. Now, I must brag on one in particular. The banana nut bread was incredible and delightfully delicious. She spared nothing on the ingredients. Nuts in every mouthful and very moist. You can tell that Val takes pride in her desserts. To Vals credit, she also has a great
personality and customer service. Once I taste the carrot cake and apple turnover, I will review it.
Val, I encourage you to keep pushing forward and remember as we discussed to get on IG and all the other social media hot spots. We've got to promote this well-kept secret in Washington N.C. I definitely will continue to take that drive from Pitt Co. to get these desserts. It is definitely worth the drive. You know, they say, "A church alive is worth the drive." Well, that's my sentiments regarding Vals gourmet shop. Oh, and before I forget, I got me some fresh eggs, too. Y'all come check her out.

Absolutely overjoyed by my experience here! The owner is very nice. The cake slices are delicious! There's lots to choose from in addition to cakes and cookies. On my next visit, I'm going to try the bread pudding and jams/preserves.

From the lemon cake, carrot cake, zucchini bread & triple chocolate cake there are no misses. This bakery is not lacking in flavor at all. Everything we tried was amazingly delicious. Next time I visit Washington, this will once again be one of my first stops.

Oh boy, what's not to love about Val's? I have to start with the amazing and loving owners who are simply fabulous. They are so kind, welcoming and accommodating. I love visiting this store and am so glad they are in downtown. The treats and gourmet foods are all delicious and it feels like a true "treat" when you come in. Beautiful and delicious. We recently ordered custom cakes for a special event and they exceeded our expectations. It was the hit of the party! Everyone loved the cheesecake and the lemon cake. This is a must stop..: a must visit.

Best carrot cake ever it was so good it gave my husband and I goosebumps . Best lemon bars glad I found this ace in the hole will be a repeat customer for sure

The tomato pie is amazing. I will try the mince meat pie next. Val was very nice. I will go back for more.
