Thanks to the Texas bucket list, I heard of this place. Getting there, well there's a lil detour because exit 19 was blocked off due to road work and that's the road that leads you there. But once you're there, you experience the surroundings and the food, getting there was worth it. Forget about restaurants right to the bay. If you sit outside, you're table is literally right next to the bay. I mean mere feet away. Where boats and jet skis can just drive up to the restaurant. Had fun, good food. Service was good, but we had to wait a good minute on our food. If you go. Order nothing but appetizers that's if you're in a rush. But other then that I loved this restaurant. I'll be back, I'm just not sure when. Hopefully it won't be that long to visit here again. Oh yeah. One more thing. Don't leave you're table unattended because seagulls will eat your food. :: UPDATE:: I was able to bring my girl here for our 2nd anniversary. In the sun it was warm, in the shade it was quite cold, for the month of February. Again, I can't say it enough the food and the atmosphere is uncanny. I absolute love this restaurant. But the service seem to be lacking this time around. She would dissappear and almost seem to forget about us at times. But it's not going to change my mind about this place. But I will say this again, don't leave tour outdoor seat alone. The birds this time around almost seem to be braver, but didn't get that close. Love this restaurant! This is a cool looking place. The scenery is the Galveston bay complete with ship traffic and a couple of oil rigs. The outdoor seating is clean and well organized. Very spacious and intimate at night. The service has been exemplary so far with very attentive wait staff. But the food is mid on a good day. The appetizers are poorly seasoned and low quality. The entrees are good sized portions with unique sides like squash and zucchini. But the seasoning just isn't there. Dessert is the best thing on the menu. Key lime pie was very good and a chocolate cake with mousse filling was a hit. Take the in-laws here, but only if they're the ones paying. What a great restaurant. The staff was ever so helpful and nice. Food prices are reasonable and the portions were over abundant. No room for dessert. Outdoor seating was awesome. Tons of parking. The restroom was neat and clean Check out was easy and quick. Super Job. San Leon TX has many seafood restaurants, but Topwater Grill is definitely one of the best ones! Their food is always so fresh and flavorful. We can’t help but come back for more. They have the best fried platters here!!! You have to give those a try if you can! Diana was awesome. She was very attentive & friendly, she helped make dining a pleasure. That said, the food was exceptional. We had the bobbers(crab balls) shrimp cocktail, a cup of seafood gumbo, and corn chowder. We shared everything and it was very good. All the food was excellent. The coconut shrimp are absolutely delicious! The boudin balls are amazing! The raw oysters were a decent size and actually served cold, I've been to several places where the raw oysters were warm 🤢 I attended a wedding shower in the upstairs room and Ryan was the one taking care of us. He was absolutely amazing and kept a smile on his face. He had a couple of helpers and they were amazingly helpful and sweet as well. They were extremely patient and did an amazing job. The atmosphere of the upstairs room was a tad dull. There were lights burnt out so it was a bit dark in one area. I think they did the best that they could with what they had. This is such a fun little restaurant! The decor is really cute. We sat at the bar until a table was ready, the drinks were great and the bartender was very friendly. We sat outside at one of the glider tables and that was so fun! I had no idea the benches were swings so that was a fun surprise. Our server was super nice and helpful with some great suggestions.
