The place was packed but service was still unbelievably good for that kind of crowd. Not great, like we never had our ash tray cleaned or asked if everything is OK but still when we needed one, we were able to reach a waiter in a reasonable time. For meat eaters, the goat (oh-luck is how it is pronounced) meat was yummy. The tapas (meze in Turkish) also were delicious, especially the one with almonds and yoghurt, which is something we never had before. I could have maybe rated with all 5 stars if I hadn't seen the "kuver" (cover expense) at the end when we asked for the bill. For meze we had: Pilaki (beans), greek cheese meze with avocado and basil, the yoghurt with almonds and stuff, a mixed greens meze, pickled fish (uskumru), Angelika's salad (was really good), shrimp casserole in butter for one and goat meat for one. We haid 35+20 cl Beylerbeyi Göbek Raki and 3x 50cl Tuborg beers. Dessert was a shared semolina with ice cream. We paid 2500 try. Coming from a family that have worked in hospitality sector for over a century, I don't find it fair when I am asked to pay for "kuver" (the 'cover' money that you pay just because the owner wants you to..) when my bill is 2500 already. I would leave more tip for our awesome waiter if this wasn't the case. Who knows? Maybe they feel like they have to charge cover because Turks in general are not tipping enough. I could agree with them if that's the case. My humble advice would be is to get rid of the cover expense on the bill. That is not nice at all. Nobody wants to pay for a "made up" item. If you need to pay your waiters more to keep them happy, reflect it on the prices. Don't ask from the customers for cover when they are paying thousands. This tavern is a must when visiting Gökçeada. Went on a Friday night with a group of 5 and probably had the most fun we had in a long time. The food is delicious (goat is a must try), servers are very patient and friendly, and the wonderful show by the locals with upbeat greek music was a delight. The prices were considerably lower!
