This place has been consistently awful since it opened, but I’ve still been here many times due to work gatherings or family invites. Sitting in the bar, having a pretzel, bang bang cauliflower, onion rings or cheese curds - it’s fine. The drinks are pretty good. But most of the food - the sandwiches, meals, pizzas and burgers are horrible. So picked up food there this week because I had a gift certificate. (If work gives me a gift cert again, I’ll put it right in the trash.) The Margherita pizza was tough and dry, hardly any basil, tomato or cheese. We added the Parmesan in the picture. The basil was shredded, instead of the traditional whole leaf basil. There was about a tbsp and it looked like someone just threw it and missed, since it was all clumped on one area. My Reuben was dry, tough, inedible ROAST beef, not the corned beef advertised. Not pastrami. Nasty under-the-heat-lamp all day roast beef - and a small amount. It wasn’t sliced thinly like a normal Reuben, it was in chunks. A thimbleful of Swiss cheese. Plenty of sauerkraut. This was thrown out. Now, I’ve had many Reubens from their partner Blackwoods. Same owners. They have the best Reuben in town. Why so awful here?? But - The onion rings were very, very good!!! So why is it still in business? I think people just go here to drink. Have some apps. Socialize. It does have a fun atmosphere and a nice deck. These things distract people from the food. The front staff and wait staff and bartenders are always friendly and work hard. We tip well for their service - no matter how bad the meal. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Onion Rings

My husband and I were in Duluth for a quick getaway. One of my nieces worked here, so we decided to give it a try. It turned out great! The food was fresh and delicious. We had the Tavern Steak Bites and Bang-bamg Cauliflower appetizers.....YUMMMM! Both sauces were banging! My husband had the Tavern Burger, and I had the Btown Sugar Crasted Salmon with a side salad. The roasted garlic vinaigrette that came with the salad was very tasty, I was worried it might be too garlicky. My husband totally loved the burger. Perfect balance between the cheese, meat, thick bacon, buns, crispy onion rings and the pub sauce. That pub sauce was so good that he started looking for the recipe online. 😋 One thing that surprised my tastebuds was the little pepper on the top of the burger. I had that at the very end of the meal and it just blew my mind! Not even sure how this was cooked but WOW!!! A NEW FAVORITE PLACE. Certainly one of my favorite restaurants in the Duluth area. Love the atmosphere, food, cocktails, and the entertaining cute little "wicky sticks" they always give kids to play with (and adults upon request). I always enjoy my experience visiting this restaurant and recommend it to everyone and anyone looking to eat some good food in a friendly environment. 1st time. It was great. Layout was definitely different than I expected, it was more awesome. My daughter had the bluestone and I got the Tavern special. Very delicious. Our appetizer was the sweet potato Friesland the desert was the apple crisp. Both amazing. I never had a mojito until tonight. It was coconut flavored, I highly recommend that drink. Our waitress was a brunette with a tattoo sleeve and a was a cute mana to be. She was fabulous. Was a great daughter and mom night out. We started with blackened Brussel sprouts as an appetizer and my spouse had a bloody Mary for a drink. The Brussel sprouts had a ton of flavor and were a great start to an amazing meal. The bloody Mary was delicious, it had some thickness to it and was very flavorful, he didn't order a spicy one. For the main course we chose the mashed potatoe and asparagus pizza, I had the whitefish dinner, and my man had the Tavern burger. Everything was so amazing, with so many flavors, we ordered way too much, but we wanted to try so many things. The service was phenomenal by all staff. Many different staff came by to grab empty plates, and asked how things were, they weren't over the top in an aggressive way, just enough, they were also younger servers and very respectful. I feel we don't see enough of that in the restaurant business anymore. We will definitely be back!! This place is huge and has the coolest patio! Beautiful flowers, fun lighting, plus a fire pit! The Carmel apple cider was delicious and reminded me of those Carmel apple suckers in the green wrapper from my childhood. The wild rice melt sandwich was such a good choice! Highly recommend. Yum. Geniusly located, with a well designed patio area. Nice decor. Loved the ambient Reggae music playing. Laminated menu’s clipped to the table umbrella (smart). The Brunch Farmer's Egg Bowl is a wonderful idea for a unique food item. I could have used just a little more of the potatoes & veggies with it, but it is still pretty impressive. The pizza looked good. Shrimp tacos left a lot to be desired (so much cabbage. No avocado. No heat. No corn tortilla option. No Cilantro. No pickled onions or radish.), but there aren't bad. Great NA Bev options. Cocktail menu looks pretty swanky as well. A very cool spot! (Dog friendly patio is a +). I do not give out 5 stars often. The food here was delicious, the atmosphere was a tavern atmosphere but where it was easy to talk to each other. The establishment was very clean and the service was really good. We ordered a few dishes: Pub pretzels,Cheddar cheese curds with caramel dip--so good that we ordered a second basket we weren't sure the caramel would work but our waiter suggested it and we are so glad we did! We also ordered Onion rings, sweet potatoes fries, Stuffed tater tots, Bluestone burger, Tavern burger Steak cheese Ciabatta, and a Sassy red pepper pesto bowl. Everything was very good however, the cheese curds with caramel was my favorite appetizer and my favorite dish hands down was the sassy pasta. We will definitely be returning. They also offered a happy hour and military discount. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Pretzels
