my first time here and I wanted to like the coffee. I had a cappuccino with almond milk and it was awful, it had a very weird taste to it even though I added sugar. this is the first time I've tried new coffee in a long time and didn't enjoy it. very bitter tasting, so I won't be back. had to throw it away

Their coffee drinks are nice, with some creative combo. The indian(?) lady is very upbeat and dynamic, wonderful presence. I'm not as keen about the pastries which are supermarket level, heated and delivered so hot that you burn yourself, and ultimately saggy. A good spot to grab coffee on the way to campus.

Genuinely has to be the best iced chai latte i’ve ever had, it tasted like genuine chai was brewed. It’s quiet and everyone sitting around had a calm keeping to self vibe, just enjoying their coffee or food. Try the Iced chai latte with a shot of espresso and lavender syrup, it was so refreshing, with a slice of tiramisu.
edit:
Also the cashier and barista was so sweet to me and soft spoken, such a nice vibe inside!

I gave this place a fair chance but unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. The owner of this place is very friendly, but the barista with the short blond hair is unfriendly, doesn't greet customers, and usually made my lattes very watery (showing little to no effort). I don't usually write negative reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience. This barista even refused to give me a straw when I asked for one. Yes, a simple straw! For these reasons, I will continue to visit ELAN Cafe, located two blocks down on 87 Halsey St. Newark, where the staff and service are excellent.
