THE PIZZA is fantastic. One of my favorites in La Mesa. I prefer to eat at the location it is great for groups of friends and teams to gather and enjoy a meal together. The place gets packed but it is always fun and there is always a great neighbor or friend there making the place feel like personal. Came here for some pizza after visiting a local brewery. We ordered a couple of slices of pizza, a salad, and garlic knots. The food was great! Very tasty. We had an issue with payment as 1 of us was paying for everything but the cashier split the salad off so we had to pay separately for that which didn’t make sense. Definitely plenty of space inside to enjoy beers & pizza and people watch! I love the variety of pizzas and the crust is soooo good too. Plenty of sitting. Sometime you will see a lot of families with young kids over. You get your pizza pretty fast if you just order the ones that are ready. We never order the whole pie before so don’t know about the wait time. Fridays evenings are usually pretty busy probably cause of the farmers market but we still didn’t wait for too long to get our pizzas. Highly recommend!!

The Surf Rider has great slices with a variety of pizzas. Great crispy crust with great toppings that won't leave you feeling like you ate a loaf of bread. Two outdoor patios, seating inside and a bar setting for tap beers. Lots of natural light and fresh air to sit and enjoy the unique ambiance. The Surf Rider has always been super clean every time I visit. Family friendly, my recommendation to you ... Really love the taste of their pizza and garlic knots. Their sauce and pesto are super flavorful and are seasoned nicely. If you haven't tried this place, recommend to try it out. Direct quotes from my kids: “This is the best pizza ever!” “This is really good.” This place is hopping, one of the most friendly and busiest restaurants in downtown Historic La Mesa. Likely because of the fun atmosphere, reasonable prices and family friendly decor. It really was the busiest and most popular place on the night of the 2022 street winter festival. The pizza is decent. It’s thin crust, and uses fresh ingredients. We ordered take out in order to eat on the street during the winter festival. I was told 30-35 minutes for food preparation, but it wasn’t done for over 45 min - they were BUSY. Unfortunately, they gave me the entirely wrong pizza when I picked up my order. We had waited so long we chose to eat it anyways, but we did go back to let them know. They thanked us for letting them know and cooked a replacement immediately, about another 10 minutes. They made a mistake, but were quick to correct it. Too bad it took so long to make the first pizza…but the correction was made. I believe they just mistakenly swapped pizzas with another order. We also tried their Greek salad, which was great and the dirty wings- one of my daughters thought the chicken was incredible. It was tasty. It’s a fun restaurant. Your family will enjoy it. I recently popped into this venue for a quick bite to eat. They had a variety of different styles to choose from. Both slices I tried were tasty. They had a pretty solid lunch special also. There’s tons of room both inside and outside and they had a ton of brew on tap. Cool spot if your looking for good pizza and a casual place to hangout. Fun trivia night on Wednesday’s. The surf rider pizza was very good!! Thin crust style pizza that’s crispy and flavorful. The garlic knots were a bit doughy but overall good, the ranch was average but nothing amazing. The cookies were just fine, a bit dry. Overall I’ll definitely be back for the pizza!!
