Come here for some rest after a long walk around Tromso Jernbanestasjon. Most guests recommend trying nicely cooked fish soup, cod and fillet steaks. Eating good vanilla ice cream, che and waffles is a nice experience here. It's time to degustate delicious draft beer, wine or cognac. At this restaurant, visitors can drink great coffee. Select between indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is said to be attentive here. The nice service demonstrates a high level of quality at Skarven. Prices here are reported to be adequate. Very cozy place to grab a drink and some very delicious food. We made this the place to finally try some Norwegian specialties on our trip and glad we chose it. The stockfish (tørrfisk) and reindeer steak dinners were both outstanding (and very approachable if unfamiliar with the cuisine). Great place to eat and drink. Traditional feel and a laid back vibe with friendly service and excellent local food and exceptional beer selection from the loca breweries as well as a vast selection of bottled options. Bacalao, Klippfish and whale steak all tried and all delicious. Decent portion size and reasonable pricing I would say too. Overall a place we will most certainly return too on our next visit !! It was Christmas time. Limited restaurants were open, with even limited timings and almost all of them required advance reservations. This restaurant accepted us at a very short notice! My goal was to try authentic local food. So, tried whale and seal for the first time ever - thoroughly enjoyed it; reindeer shank was delicious as well. Beautiful location with the view of the harbour. It’s giving… living room vibes. Very spacious. Creamy fish soup: Not bad, had quite a lot of fish in it. Lacked somewhat of flavour. But overall satisfied. Wonderful customer service, friendly and quick! Stockfish soup: Richly filled soup. Good amount of stockfish in it. Has a nice little kick to it but lacks a bit of flavour. Nice place for dinner in a relaxed atmosphere - great selection of meals (no big menu but well selected and traditional) and a huge variety of local beer. During our time in Tromsø we had two dinners there - there might be some waiting time for the food, but it's worth the wait! I think this is one of those times where I was so set on having a dish that I didn't stop to think is this the best place for the dish. Reindeer meat not being something I can get at home. You tend to just want it it because you can get it. The service was nice. and the place is more than adequate. When I come back with to Tromso with a more open mind. The food was good.. and the dessert was pretty amazing . The place deserves a second pass and I would not hesitate if someone suggested we go there. Pretty nice food and great variety of beer. Did not realised they have reindeer meat here but probably will try if we do visit again. One of the nice place frequented by locals and is open till quite late. Order at the bar and they will serve you the food. Ordering food at the bar. Has to pay upfront cause people run. It was very kind that waiter considered myself being capable of running that fast so I didnt mind paying. However asking for tip during payment upfront is weird flex :) Then they bring main dish forgetting about soup. Now during halfway through the meal they bring cold soup to the table.
