Went after calling so seating was not the issue. Staff is actually nice. They answered our questions and waited while we took our time to decide what to order. I ordered shrimp tempura rolls. It came out pretty quick but it was not up to the mark. I am no expert in rolls so cant say what was missing but i have had lot better in Boston. Shrimp tempura is always my go to when i visit a sushi place as it always came out nice. This was an exception here at Sapporo. Referred by a good friend of mine, the roll, Maine and the soft shell crabs, scallops roll are excellent, also order the kitchen items but the taste is too strong (kind of salty) for me. Service is good can be not so busy when I there. Parking is easy, I parked right in front by the store with meter parking and there’s lot to park as well.

This was my first time visiting the Sapporo restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was cozy and cute, the food was priced well, and our server was attentive and super friendly. I ordered tamago (egg) sushi, the mackerel & ginger roll, and the broiled salmon skin roll— all super yummy! I will definitely dine here again! HOWWW is this place 4.3 stars??? If you've never had sushi before-- this is the place for you! At best, 2 ounces combined sushi in 3 rolls... if less than one star was available, that would be the rating for anyone that has consumed sushi prior to this place. I was craving sushi for my birthday dinner. There is no shortage of sushi restaurants in Portland so we did our research and settled on Sapporo. In short, we made the right choice. The service was very good and the food was better. The freshest sushi I have ever had, especially the tuna!! Great variety of sake to choose from also. We chose a great unfiltered brand. If you are in Portland Maine and want sushi, head straight to Sapporo!!

Very good food, very fresh sushi! Brought our kids here and it was very nice to sit outside on the patio with them. Great service and all around a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

Wasn't the restaurants fault. Doordasher delivered sideways. I spent 20 minutes pulling it apart just to get it to look like this! Tastes great but it's really aggravating and if I was the owner I'd contact doordash and complain how their food is being handled! Service Delivery Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+

very good chain japanese restaurant. prices during happy hour are amazing and even though we ate about 5 courses plus drinks, the total tab was very reasonable. amazing [small] fried softshell crab as well

A Great place for some classic sushi and specialty sushi. If you have a large group, I suggest getting a platter, will run you a few more dollars but for amount it's worth it. The miso soup is always good. Also got a few Saki to choose from, warm and cold, of course. Overall a great place to stop for a bite, when your out on the town. They are also very Covid Conscious.
