Placed a to go order at the bar. 30 minutes later, no food. Bartender told me the kitchen was busy.. Then I watched people next to me, who placed their orders after I placed mine, get their meals and in some cases finish their meal and ask for to go boxes before I got mine. It was obvious they forgot my order…ok. it happens. Don’t lie to me and tell me the kitchen is backed up when you obviously forgot about me. I’ve been going there once a week since I moved here 3 years ago. Not going back.

Absolutely disgusting. I don't usually write reviews but this was awful. Paid $16 for steak "nachos", what I got was overcooked steak on top of stale chips with little to no cheese. The aftertaste from the chips was so awful I had to brush my teeth to get that horrible taste out. A friend let me eat her burrito, feeling sorry that I would go hungry from not eating and it was equally as awful. Three Words: FAST, HOT, and DELICIOUS!!! We recently discovered San Felipe Mexican Restaurant while visiting Leland and decided to give them a try base on a recommendation we received. Today marked our fourth visit in the last few weeks. Each time we have dined at the restaurant we have had the same great experience. We live in Hampstead and make the 60 mile round trip adventure because of the quality of their food and the level of service they provide. You know it has to be good if we are willing to drive this far for good Mexican food. P.S. If you see any reviews to the contrary, I would say these had to be one off situations and would encourage you to try this restaurant yourself. I believe you will be glad you did. Do NOT waste your time or money! The food and customer service is the worst you can find! From the moment we walked in, the host did not even speak to us. The salsa was not good and when our food came out it was wrong and almost room temperature. I ordered the Texas Fajitas and it came on the normal “sizzle” plate however it was so lacking in temperature there was not even steam coming from it. The food was bland and the fajitas were literally soaking in grease. The tacos and fajitas were also served with a spring mix that you could purchase from Walmart instead of actual lettuce. The refried beans and softshell tacos were so cold, that not even the cheese would melt on it. When the food arrived an item was missing and when we tried to get our waitresses attention, we were told that we could wait. When she finally came back with the missing food item, she had a major attitude. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, do not eat here. You are better off eating at Taco Bell! The minute I walked in I anticipated a good experience as the spaciousness was inviting, and decor appeared authentic as the sounds of Mexican music ushered me in. It was a late afternoon on the eve of New Year’s Eve that I decided to try this place. I was dining alone and super hungry, so I decided to sit at a table rather than the bar. I was seated quickly and within minutes had a bowl of chips and salsa in front of me (loved this)! The next few minutes, this welcoming atmosphere went all downhill. I believe it had much to do with the mannerisms of my Waiter. Since it was my first time dining, and the menu was extensive, I took my time ordering. It appeared the Waiter was impatient as he kept coming to take my order but I wasn’t ready. Between the snacking on the chips and getting hydrated, I felt relaxed and wanted to take my time to make a decision. I easily brushed off his impatience as my sensitivity. It took us several attempts to place the order. I wanted the fish taco with a hard shell and for some reason, he kept saying soft. When I understood this to mean that I couldn’t get a fish taco with a hard shell I took it off my order, it was then that he got it right; fish taco with hard shell. I also ordered a steak. Not sure of the name of it exactly but thought I’d try it since I’ve enjoyed the seasoning of the steak at past Mexican restaurants. The Waiter was gracious enough to ask if I wanted “medium rare” or “medium well”. I was appreciative of this clarification. After I placed my order, I clearly stated that I wanted the tacos as an appetizer and steak as an entree. In other words, I did not want them to come out at the same time. Needless to say, as you can see by the photo, they arrived 3 minutes apart. As dismayed as I was about this, I did not request it to go back. I heard horror stories in doing this so there it sat, getting cold, while I ate the fish tacos. I looked forward to the fish tacos because they are my favorite kind of taco and not everyone sells them. It was ok, nothing to brag about as the fish taste seemed muted. When I finally moved on to the steak, it was not hot enough so I ended up taking it home. It didn’t have the flavor I was looking for, however the medium rare was cooked to perfection. I wanted to order a drink but the Waiter seemed hurried and preoccupied. When I asked for more napkins, he passed my table several times thereafter and finally brought me the napkins, almost as an after thought. While I was eating, it appeared he was circling my table with anxiousness. After a time he came and asked "you done?" I thought the question was rather gruff and could have been asked better such as "can I get you something else?". At this point I stopped making excuses for his behavior and resigned to leave, especially with the cold steak. He brought the check and immediately was ready to check me out without bothering to ask if I wanted dessert. I wanted dessert but was tired of his hurrying manner. I paid the check, and despite my misgivings left an adequate tip slightly above 20%. As a last attestation to what I will call his rudeness, he collected the signed check and disappeared before I so much as gathered my purse and doggie bag. I am giving three stars because of the bland taste of the food (although plated nicely) and the Waiter’s lack of hospitality. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants to patronage. Updated today: I don’t know what has happened but our experience this time was more than disappointing! 1. The Margarita as seen in picture was all ice and minimal drink! 2. No Mexican beer available as draft! 3. My wife ordered side salad and got rice instead! 4. I ordered 2 Chili Relanos and got Cheese Enchiladas They were not busy so we were very surprised! We were on a time allotment so we kept the food. Server said sorry but did nothing to help us out and mysteriously disappeared and another server took over and did not know of our issues. He dropped our bill off and also said sorry but nothing more. We paid and left and have decided that they have lost us as customers! Five months ago: After a doctor’s appointment decided to get something to eat before home across the river!
