My family and I celebrated three birthdays with an excellent dinner at the Point Phillips Hotel. The smoked wings were delicious, as was everything else we ordered. The server, J J,
was outstanding. She did everything she could to make sure we had a great meal and enjoyed our time. I highly recommend the Point Phillips Hotel for a delicious meal and great service

We enjoyed our meal but our experience was ruined by the comment of the bartender. We sat at the bar for our first visit. We had a bbq platter which we enjoyed and could tell everything is freshly made. After our meal we ordered another drink and were just talking and enjoying our night out. About halfway through the drink, the bartender put the check down and said "we have people waiting." We found it to be very rude. It's not like we were just sitting there. We were still spending money. We enjoy eating and sitting a bar because it's relaxed and not rushed like being at a table. The manager was off that night, per the bartender, so I could not approach them to address my concerns. I would not return to the bar for sure. I would recommend reservations for the dining room.

Waited 50 minutes to be seated when we had a reservation (which was made 5 days in advance)! They were very busy and service was a bit slow. We waited again for food a while. I had the 2 sampler dinner. Chicken was a little dry and the pulled pork was bland. I had to slather them in BBQ sauce. The bbq sauce and cornbread were excellent though. Dessert was also good. Service just made the experience suck.

A+++++++ food here is amazing, I recommend making reservations it does get full every day they're open. Staff is super friendly and I love the atmosphere. I highly recommend checking out this off the beaten path place. I ordered my favorite the crabby Mac and cheese and never disappoints.

I hesitate to give 5 stars and wish that 4.5 was an option.
The good:
Excellent customer service
Excellent rustic atmosphere
Good beverage selection
Good BBQ ribs
Excellent side dishes
Thursday night they have a burnt ends special that is tasty
Good portion sizes
Excellent desserts
Excellent value for what you pay
The mediocre:
Their pulled pork is a bit mushy as if it is kept in a crock pot, and lacks the smoky flavor of their ribs. I saw no evidence of smoke ring on my pulled pork.
Their brisket flat is also not super smoky, and tastes similar to a pot roast.
Their BBQ sauce is a bit sweet for my taste, lacks spice or smoky flavor.
Other thoughts;
I like this place a lot and don't mean to be negative, but I take BBQ seriously and I've got to be honest.
If you're looking for good BBQ I would stick with their ribs or burnt ends. I make better BBQ at home, but I'm also not making the volume that they do, or trying to keep it warm and ready for hours for a restaurant full of people.
Come into the restaurant with a reasonable expectation for the price you're paying, find a dish that you like, and I think you'll be thrilled with the experience.
Their BBQ ribs have great smoke ring, great bark, and were definitely the star of the show on my dinner plate. Very minor preferences of mine are that the ribs themselves could have been a bit meatier, and a bit more tender.

Came for dinner on a Thursday night at 6pm with a reservation for 5 guests. As soon as I stepped out of the parked car, the delicious smell of smoked meats hit me. The restaurant is inside an old historical inn, and it has a nice cozy vibe. It was pretty packed inside, so I was glad we had a reservation, but it didn’t seem like there were really any guests waiting to be seated. I had a double chocolate milk stout that was on tap which was quite good. We got an order of cornbread for the table, which was pretty traditional and served in a cast iron skillet. It wasn’t too sweet, but it was served with a jalapeño honey butter that added a bit of a kick with some sweetness. Thursday night is special, as brisket burnt ends are on the menu “until they run out.” I ordered the brisket burnt ends with baked beans and mac & cheese. The burnt ends were solid - great smoky flavor and good sweetness. Some of the pieces of meat were better than others, with some of them being a little on the dry side. The baked beans were tasty, well cooked in a delicious sweet bourbon bbq sauce. The mac & cheese was very good as well, even better with some bbq sauce squirted on top. I finished off the meal with the lemonberry mascarpone cake, which was excellent. The mascarpone layer in the middle was so creamy and delicious, and the surrounding cake was moist, lemony, and loaded with blueberries. Overall everyone had a great experience!

Mac & Cheese
Last night was our first time at Point Phillips and we will definitely return (trying the smoked meatloaf next visit). Very charming and quaint inn and service was very good! Our server gave great and honest recommendations and was very personable as were other staff we met. I had the 14 oz cowboy rib eye which was cooked to perfection (med rare) with extra mushrooms and the bourbon bacon onion jam was amazing. Mac & cheese on point (not greasy or overly gooey) and the veggie medley was fresh & crisp the way I like it. Hubby ordered the pork and sauerkraut which was smoked pork (very good as I sampled it as well). Portions are very big and we took half of our food home to enjoy later. He said the mashed potatoes were very good. We shared a chocolate truffle cake with raspberrry drizzle and whip which was very rich and delicious. Very big menu - something for everyone. It was definitely worth the 30 minute drive but I would make reservations as they fill up quickly.

Great food proportions, very unique building and inside appearance.
Food was overall good, some was better than others. Definitely would get the French onion soup and wings again. The salmon special was well cooked and flavorful. Both the prime rib melt and the steak and potato skillet were good but maybe a bit overdone.
Overall, would recommend based off food options, portions, and fantastic history.

Smokehouse Wings
We made reservations for dinner. When we got there it was busy but we were seated right away. The menu is pretty big. We had a hard time deciding on what to get because everything sounded delicious! Our waitress was very informative and friendly. Everything we ordered came out hot and quick! The food was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend this place and reservations are a must.
