The breakfast at Penny Ann’s is so good. I can see why the wait for the cafe is always so long. I would recommend putting yourself on the waitlist on line, so you don’t have to wait at the cafe. The pancakes and the eggs Benedict were delightful. The hash browns were also really good.

Oh man. We read the reviews and we noticed most either seem to be 5 stars or 1 star. We thought hey, there's no way this place has won best of state 9 times and is this bad. Boy we were wrong.
First off the male server had long fake fingernails, before you come at me for not being whatever, I don't care what you identify as, having your nasty dirty fingernails where we put our mouths to drink out of and touch our utensils is disgusting. There is a reason fake long nails are not allowed when working around food. The waiter did ask several times if we wanted something from the kitchen while he was back there so that was nice except no waters were refilled the entire time we were there. I guess you are supposed to ask for your drinks to be refilled if you're lucky enough to have the server show up in a timely manner. We read some reviews and decided to try the gravy before ordering, it was disgusting. No flavor, just salt. It says homemade. There's no way, unless opening a can is considered homemade now. We should have done a sample of the hollandaise sauce, unfortunately we didn't and paid the price, literally. When they brought the food out, the bottoms of the plates were touching other people food, so the bottom of the plates were gross and dripping food. We ordered the cordon bleu. Tried one bite, almost threw up, the chicken was rubbery and gross, the hollandaise sauce tasted like runny rancid mayonnaise, no spices, nothing. All the adults at the table tried it and it was unanimously disgusting. We must have gotten lucky with the pancakes, they tasted really good and so did the chile verde nachos. They do give very few chips, so keep that in mind. The potatoes as others have said are stale and no flavor. The eggs were okay. We are 99% sure the French toast is just bread dipped in eggs, maybe a splash of milk, but our child who is not picky with anything French toast related spit out his food into a napkin. Again, all adults tried it and were amazed they messed up French toast. In the end they discounted half of the cordon bleu even though it was barely touched. (Will include a photo for reference) Whatever, it is what it is, I would say trust your instincts, and if you are adamant to try this place, try a sample before you go all in. There is also a waiting area in the back by the bathrooms which they finally mentioned after we stood there awkwardly for 15 minutes. Overall, we will never go here again. The 2 stars are for the pancakes and the chile verde sauce.

This is a stereotypical American brunch café. They have a menu similar to Cracker Barrel. Nothing too fancy or special, but it's what you would expect to eat for breakfast or lunch in the US. Food portions are big but not too big. I got an Arizona omelet, and it was kind of spicy with jalapeños. I think the food tastes like what you would expect it to taste like, but I really liked their fried scone - it was really good. I chose French toast for my side, and I thought they put on whipped cream, but it was actually a scoop of butter. The food in general tasted fine.

Penny Anne's is definitely one of the better breakfast eats in Salt Lake! Penny Anne's gets a great 4.7/5 for me! Food is very well done, higher quality than regular commercial breakfast joints, and honestly the prices are very fair. Not inexpensive, but honestly not much worse than those other breakfast places.
Eggs Benedict is great and unique. It is a Croissant Benedict with both bacon and ham. It makes it super buttery and very delicious. The hollandaise sauce while a little broken, was still very flavourful and didn't take anything anyway. (It does come with tomato, I usually take mine off on a Benedict.)
The scones are one of the best in Utah, always get one! Huge portion, flavourful dough, although could be a little more salted, great honey butter (always get extra), and for only like 4 bucks.
The Hot Cakes (Sour Cream Pancakes) are always consistently great, fresh, and fluffy. Great syrups and toppings.
My only quarrel are the potatoes on the side, the texture is always amazing, they're fried potatoes which I love, they just don't have seasoning or anything. Great place, great food, real breakfast!

Overall, I think the service from Lexi was good and efficient. She was polite and on point with every step of the meal. My coffee was refilled on time. But, I am disappointed on my Heavenly Hot Cake. This is their signature item on the menu. My hot cakes were dried and not fluffy like it used to be in the past. My chicken fried steak was good because of its gravy. Hopefully, this post will help PAC gets back to delivering good quality food again.

Went in to PennyAnns and this was maybe my 3rd time, but first time at this location. Ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with a side of chocolate chip pancakes. My wife ordered the Big Breakfast with pancakes. The food tasted good and the service was good. They put chocolate chips just on top, not inside your pancakes so just be aware of that. The waitress was kind and attended to our needs. Overall, everything was good!
Best service that I’ve experienced in a while. Food was also pretty amazing.
This was my first time to Penny Ann’s and Ryann was my server. She hooked me up with real heavy cream for my coffee. She said that PAC has the best chicken fried steak in the state, and she wasn’t wrong. It was pretty amazing. Ryann was friendly, chatty but not intrusive, and on the ball.
I give it five stars. Great food, great service.
