We came for lunch because of the reviews. My husband and I both ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken. Mine was raw inside. They did cook me a new one, but my husband was finished with his by the time my new plate arrived. The sides were very good and the gravy delicious. The price was reasonable. Absolutely love the chicken and waffles as well as the chicken fried chicken here! I came here with my family and the food was great! It's warm and homemade which I love and it makes for the best comfort food my favorite dessert here is the mixed berry cobbler it has the rightful amount of sweetness and the warmness from the berries and the coolness of the ice cream is absolutely Devine! This was my first time trying food from this restaurant. Very very nasty food. $30 for food that was very unseasoned. The bread was beyond stale it was horrible. The “stuffing” was so ugly. What a delicious hidden gem! I had the chicken fried steak. It's was really good. And I absolutely loved the gravy. Normally I don't like white or country gravy but I could've ate that out of a bowl with a spoon 😆 my brother ordered the shrimp and fish. He said it was "very tasty indeed". Have been here twice, and both time excellent! Got the chicken and waffles and my dad got the hamburger steak and onions. Staff is friendly and the place is very historical, such a cool atmosphere. I plan on coming to TAMUK so I look forward to visiting more! The only complaint I've had towards this place is 1) the wait times are pretty long, even for a scratch kitchen, though, I came while it was busy. Just know your food is homemade and is worth the wait, but I'd give a bit of grace if you have time to keep. 2) My dad's hamburger steak with onions had one piece of onion on it. Otherwise, a gem of a place in Kingsville!
