I stop there today and purchase their jerk chicken plantain and mashed potato. The plantain was undercooked and so was the chicken. It was as if I was eating plastic, tasteless and raw. I had asked for oxtail gravy and my mash potato was swimming in a pool of oil. It was waiting on a heart attack to happen. I would not consider this soul food. I am from the Caribbean and this is a failed attempt at recreating soul food. I tried calling but they are constantly talking online he phone. I am so annoyed with these food services place, time is hard and I work hard for my money and when purchase something that’s not good, I am upset because I am throwing away money I don’t have….. I’ll start off by saying, the food is good. BUT the customer service is TERRIBLE. We catered some food from Paula’s. We picked up the food, and dropped it off quickly as we had some errands to run. We then received a call from Paula’s stating that they messed up and gave us someone else’s order and that we had to return it back to them as soon as possible because the customer was there for their order. The lady that called us was unapologetic and rude as if it was our mistake. She threatened to charge us if we didn’t bring back the food. Not sure how she thought she could do that without our card information, unless this business is keeping their customers payment details when they swipe to pay… Now we are very reasonable people so we told them we would take back the food as soon as we could, in which the lady on the phone was again rude because we couldn’t magically fly over there to fix THEIR MISTAKE. We ran home picked up the food and brought it back to the restaurant. The lady again, was very unapologetic, she just said it was their fault grabbed the food and walked away from us. No sorry, no thank you, just plain RUDE. Paula’s Soul Food Cafe, maybe you should consider reassessing your staff or invest in a customer experience course/class for your company. Actually pay attention and take into account the feedback customers are leaving behind. Looking at the other reviews, it seems like customer service is a constant issue. Be respectful and kind to your paying customers. Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Fantastic restaurant and takeout spot! Paula’s has delicious food, a wide selection of food, desserts, sides, and soft drinks at really good prices. They have super friendly customer service, fast cooking times and a clean, beautifully decorated & inviting establishment. The atmosphere feels great, like you’re going home for a home-cooked meal around the holidays. You won’t regret this 5-star experience ! Went to this restaurant tonight. I walked in and asked what was good here. The lady said everything was good. So she showed me the dishes and I chose to get the jerk chicken with macaroni salad and collard greens. I took the food to go since I live nearby. Well I opened the box, no macaroni salad. I got some jerk chicken with literally was flavorless. Like ya didn’t season the chicken. Just put sauce on the chicken and served it. The collard greens were by far the worst I’ve ever had. The cornbread was decent. I had all that with a large cup of koolaid. I wasted money going here. Never again. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

Came here for lunch and they have lunch specials which includes two sides. I ordered the baked chicken with mac and cheese and sautéed broccoli. The chicken was juicy and tender, and brócoli was just tasteful. The Mac and cheese was a hit. Love that the lunch prices were also reasonable, with a wide selection. Overall great soul food. The food wasn't bad, but it was salty. The staff wasn't rude but not friendly either. The place was clean. The restaurant seemed to not be fully lit, so it was bright from the sun in the front and deemed further back. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4
Honey I was so excited to try this place. I came an hour away to be met with out a greeting or a warm welcome. I said hello and couldn't get a response from the lady who took my order. I just pushed past it because I wanted the food. Well it was unseasoned. So disappointed. Should've read the reveiws first.

Entering the store the workers were nice and very professional. The restaurant was clean and nicely done. Most of the food was visible and looked very appetizing. Most food was kept warm in a warmer which I usually am not a fan of. The fish seemed to be cooked to order. We had several different platters. Turkey Wings, Salmon and Fried Whiting. Turkey Wings - Cooked very well. The meat wasn't dry or overcooked. They didn't have a lot of flavor. Not salty which was good for me. Fried Whiting - was cooked nice and crispy. Not salty which was good to me. It was seasoned okay. The portion was great. Salmon - cooked well and seasoned well. The portion was okay. The sides were roasted potatoes, collards, string beans and Mac& cheese plus plantains. Loved all the sides except the Mac & cheese which was okay to me. Collards were not cut up much which usually bothers me but didn't. Recommend

The food was very good, fresh, nice portions and a good variety with reasonable prices. The chicken wings were excellent and the red velvet cake was just ok. My only gripe is I wish they would chop up the greens and cabbage instead of serving such large pieces which I ended up cutting myself. But they were very flavorful though. I will repeat and would recommend. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20

Soul food (African American traditional cuisine with roots in southern states going back to time of slavery) restaurant. The beef ribs were tender and slathered with BBQ sauce. The crust was a bit burned, but I was able to taste the seasoning. Mac and Cheese was good and not too dried out as it is made at some other places. Potato salad was a hit. The corn bread was the real unsung star of the ensemble cast. It was light, fluffy and had a tinge of sweetness. It definitely had the "secret sauce" added to it. Service was friendly.
