We have eaten at the Mt Pleasant location many, many times but this is the first rime at this location. I got the Locals Tower and it was fantastic. Very consistent with what I’ve had before at the other location. As you be a tell by the picture the presentation was very nice. Our waiter was Jeff and he was very pleasant. Carlton the manager stopped by our table and spent time checking on us. We will be back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Sushi was good. BUT the spring rolls were terrible. Such a disservice to a yummy appetizer. I’m mixed with Vietnamese and so I grew up my whole life making these at home with my family, so I would say I have a great sense of how they should be. It is so obvious they are not made fresh to order. Or even made fresh daily. It was very clear to me these were DAYS old. The wrapper was so hard. (Supposed to be super soft. The spring roll should be squishy that’s how soft they should be) The noodles were so dry. It was terrible. I mean they are faster to make than sushi. There is no reason that they can’t be made to order. Other than those two things that completely ruined them (I will never order again. I’d rather just make them at home) there’s hardly any filling in them. These are the smallest spring rolls I’ve ever seen from any restaurant I’ve ever ordered them from. I mean come on. Those are full of such cheap things. The most expensive item in them is the shrimp and there’s like one maybe per roll. The bartender was nice and took them off of my ticket, even though I told him not to worry about it. If you’re wanting spring rolls, I highly suggest going to Pho Saigon on James Island if you’re going to go to the locals on James Island for those. Please make them fresh daily if you’re not going to make them to order…or just don’t make them at all because it really is such a disservice to something that is and can be super yummy. Other than that, I did enjoy my sushi and ordered two of the same rolls

The food is great, but Chris is the reason we keep coming back! We always sit at the bar and love having a place that we come to where he knows our names and what we like to drink/eat. So kind and professional. Chris always makes everyone feel comfortable and like we are in our own local Cheers! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

So excited to have a Locals on James Island! I've been going to both the Mt Pleasant and West Ashley locations for years. Came tonight and was not disappointed. Food is delicious. Service is excellent. Parking is amazing. It's a little noisy, but I don't mind. There's a lovely outdoor area. Come check it out! Service Dine in Price per person $20–30

Love Locals! It’s me and my family’s favorite sushi place. The staff is always friendly and there’s always great service. I love getting the veggie roll and the edamame. So happy that they opened a new restaurant on James Island! This is my new favorite Locals location. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50

Switching my review from 5 stars to 1 star. Initially came here when they first came and had no complaints. After my visit tonight, I’m very disappointed. Serving sizes have drastically decreased. We ordered the summer rolls to start and got ONE summer roll cut in half…for 2 people to share. The sushi roll itself is the same one I’ve been getting for years and it was half the size. Not to mention, when I asked for house red wine during happy hour, I got charged for the most expensive Cabernet on the menu. I’ve been an adamant fan of Locals over the years, and tonight was a huge let down. (Picture is original picture from opening, does not compare at this time.) Service Dine in Price per person $30–50

I have been to all locations. Love the renovations on James Island. Our server tonight was very attentive for our table of 6, but didn't catch his name. My favorite is the Mt. Pleasant roll although I like many others as well! Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100

Firecracker roll, Holy City roll, and Pepper Tuna roll were so good! Drinks are spectacular. Don’t be afraid to bring non-sushi lovers here…the menu is great and there truly is something for everyone. Outside deck is perfect with sail shades over the tables and tvs for watching a game. Had live music and excellent service, even on opening night! Large parking lot in the back. Access it by going around the left side of the building once you turn off Folly. Will be back often! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50

Our first time in was a few days ago & we are STILL thinking about the Locals Tower! Huge menu so something for everyone. We sat at the bar, Nathan and Chris were an excellent team. They both made a point to learn our names which was a nice touch. We will definitely be coming back and more than likely become regulars.
