La Gâterie Restaurant in Spa

La Gaterie in Spa is a delightful tea room located in the heart of the city. The warm and friendly owner greets you with a smile and efficiency. The pastries are delicious and generous in portion size. We had an éclair à la chantilly and advocaat cake accompanied by a small porto blanc. The cappuccinos were served with chantilly cream and a coconut biscuit. For 13 euros, two large pastries and two cappuccinos were provided. The crêpe Grand Marnier (served on separate plates) is highly recommended. The lait russe (milk coffee) and tea were served with a delicious macaroon. The breakfast here is also very popular with locals. Old school pancakes and friendly service make this a great place to visit. The pastry and outdoor seating area are also pleasant. The quality is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. The Fraise Melba ice-cream is a must try with its fresh strawberries, high quality vanilla ice-cream and whipped cream topped with strawberry sauce. A nice nip of cream is served on the side. For a quick snack, La Gaterie offers cheese and ham sandwiches with a tasty small salad. Coffee and pastries are also available. The atmosphere is cosy and the service is fast and friendly. Highly recommended for a relaxing break or mid morning snack.
