It was our first time trying Jalapeños and man oh man! It was so GOOOOD! My husband got the Porkchop Plate and I got the tacos de Asada with one Tripa taco. The tripa taco was my favorite and the beans were so delicious! The tortillas were always a hit with us! They were soft and warm! We'll definitely be coming back! Have gone there on occasion for breakfast tacos and coffee, quite enjoyable until last Friday. Deviated from tacos and ordered 2 eggs, 2 toast, 2 small strips of bacon and coffee. Was billed $13.61. The employee was not interested in discussing or explaining the charge and when I reviewed this charge on my credit card charge it was just over $17.00. Disappointed to say the least. So, first time here. There is another Jalapenos on Prue and De Zavala...thinking it was the same owners and food was to be about the same. I was wrong. I ordered the picadillo plate. Gross!!! Did not look like the picture at all. It was like burnt and soggy. I left it alone and only ate the beans and rice. The coffee also tasted burnt and had to use a lot of creamer with sugar so it can taste better. Still hungry, I figured I order something else. I got the barbacoa taco...Nasty! It tasted weird and was very oily. Didn't eat it either. My wife had the steak a la mexicana...she puked when we got home and had an upset stomach the rest of the evening. Here comes the other bad part. Most restaurants will give you complimentary coffee refill, not this place! They charge you extra $2.99 for the refill. An extra flour tortilla $1.49!! Then they charge a SVC fee of $1.39 for using their card merchant machine or whatever else this charge is for. Total for my wife and I...$38.73. Never again!!! Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3
