The views of the ocean were fantastic from the restaurant. Valet parking is 8 dollars. Sometimes there is parking in the street on meters, small amount of free parking in adjacent streets. Had the seafood risotto stew which was recommended and it was tasty. I liked the rice in a square at the bottom which was crispy then fell apart in the broth. Just had a GREAT evening at Jake’s Del Mar. My Sea Bass was fresh an excellent. Our table also had the fresh Mahi, best tasting Mahi I have had outside of Maui and 2 others had the New York Special, cooked to perfection. And of course we had to finish the dinner off with a Hula Pie & the Peanut Butter Torte. Alex gave us great service , including a beautiful sunset. Not sure how he managed that.

Based on the fish that I didn't finish and gave to the dog because it was so bland, literally no seasoning and the fact it was 24$ for 3 tiny pieces and some frozen French fries it should be alot less stars. I have been up and down the coast across America and have worked for large food companies. This was one of the biggest disappointments in terms of fresh fish seafood places I have been to. I only give it 3 stars because the two bartenders you had on staff that day were friendly. Would not recommend or go back based on my experience. Sorry not sorry. As far as upscale beach restaurants in Del Mar, this one is our favorite. We reserve it for special occasions or date night. During our last visit, we had a window seat at sunset for my husband's birthday. Service, food, and ambiance is great. I used to go here for business dinners, but the ambiance inside can be noisy due to the background music, so now I only go with groups of 4 or less. One of the all time great restaurants. The atmosphere inside is great and the views of the Pacific Ocean are fabulous. Best of all, the food is delicious. Came here to celebrate my friends birthday. We requested a table close to the window and they were able to accommodate. Gorgeous views, amazing food, drinks and service.
