This place has a fun atmosphere and lots of outdoor seating. The food was great. My cheese enchiladas were excellent. Shrimp tacos were very good. Service was quick and friendly.. The salsa was excellent Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I came here with my family on Saturday morning. We watched 2 other tables get waited on and served before we were ever acknowledged. I ordered a deep fried burrito and got a a vending machine burrito with a little cheese sprinkled on it. Well then there was a wait for our silverware while our food was getting cold. By far the worst food and service I've seen in along time. Very unfortunate because the atmosphere is great. I won't be back and I will encourage everyone I know not to come either. Came to Herbert’s after spending a day at Landa Park and hiking Panther Canyon Trail with my kids and two other families. We were looking for a family friendly place to have dinner. Found this restaurant in our search. Perfect because they have a playground while the adults can socialize on the patio. It was pretty windy and cooler outside, but the heaters kept us warm. Service was good. Food was not very good. Bland. The salsa is spicy. Chips are thicker. I prefer a crispier thinner chip. The enchiladas didn’t have much flavor nor did the refried beans. It was average food. Good ambiance. The queso gelled quickly. Want very tasty. The margaritas I was told were REALLY good, but the strawberry blended one was WAY too sweet. I had to return it after two drinks for a house margarita, which was brought out frozen. It was better, but still not the best. Could be the bar tender for the day. Other reviews say they are great. They do have a military discount so that is awesome. The kids had so much fun playing outside. I’d probably go back just for the playground and being able to socialize with friends. One of the best Mexican restaurants in Texas! The food is always served hot and fresh! The chips are nose and crispy, the salsa is great, the queso is better, and the guacamole is the best! The tacos there are by far the most authentic and delicious tacos I have ever eaten. The environment and atmosphere is very neat and clean. The place has beautiful outdoor seating and is kid-friendly. Nice place to eat with family. Customer service is excellent, they are kind, fast, friendly, and understanding. Update: food is still exceptional but last few times we've visited, they have been extremely short wait staffed and we spent over 30 minutes just waiting to order. Then, total visit time was 2 1/2 hours and all we ordered were appetizers. It took almost an hour for our to go order to be ready. I love this place. Family friendly restaurant with amazing playground for the kids. Food is always good. Some of my favorite dishes are the nachos, cheese enchiladas, and fajita tacos. We also ordered the fajita/enchilada value meal and it was plenty of food for our family of four, even though it says it's for 2-3 people. My only complaint is the nachos are too small in my opinion for an appetizer. Only 6 half chips. I'm used to a full plate of nachos at most restaurants like this. First trip to Herbert's! I always judge Tex-Mex by three things first: enchiladas, margaritas and chips & salsa. Herbert's excelled on all three counts! My wife loved her Monterey Chicken too. Really great food (ground meat and shredded chicken could use a little more seasonings), waitress was great, house Marg's were great and Gordita dinner was amazing with real corn meal shell. Sangria also amazing as well. Our kiddos also had a place to stay busy. Sit outside if weather is nice, great patio and scenery. ***MILITARY DISCOUNT*** Margaritas 🍹 are strong and delicious 😋 The Ambiance is fantastic. Bathrooms are quite small and the floors are greasy I'm there. The food is yummy and nice size servings. Plenty of options for Vegetarians which is a bonus. The inside dinning area is so colorful and festive. I have never seen chairs and tables quite like these. Makes everything feel authentic. The outdoor area is huge with plenty of space to spread out. They have a playground and basketball court to keep the kiddos busy while the adults enjoy conversation and the delicious Margaritas! Definitely a must visit if you are passing through or live right around the corner.
