My husband and I had a delicious meal last evening. Our server, Dana was fantastic, she was very well appraised on the menu and answered all questions that we asked. I ordered Veal Scallopini, the veal was so tender, and my husband had Mediterranean Haddock, both dishes were a taste treat. A basket of bread came out promptly and I must say the sesame bread sticks were awesome. We chose salad as one of our two choices of sides and it was served cold and crisp. Don't give reviews this high. But if you like original Italian restaurants from the 60s-70s with close to real homestyle Italian meals your grandmother made this is the place. The sauce is rendered down perfectly so it doesn't taste like plain tomato sauce from a can like the restaurants you find in old forge, or the national chains. We had the veal parm and chicken parm. The salad isn't the rabbit food they push today. It's iceberg tomato cucumber and radish. But by far the best was the fresh cut fries. I would stop just for them. The potatoes used are not bitter but actually on a sweeter smooth flavor. The atmosphere is as if you you walked into an Italian restaurant from 50 yrs ago. The Gramercy is fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Old world Italian/Sicilian Style Food prepared the same way since 1938. The fresh tomato pizza is an unbelievable experience. The restaurant is sooo cute and retro, really old timey, and I love it. From the vintage neon signs in the window, enter into the restaurant and sit in one of the small retro booths with personal dimmable lamp. Every time I'm in here, I feel like I went back in time, in a good way. The service is always friendly and efficient. It's never too crowded (a well kept secret?) so easy to get a table. Their house chianti is tasty and not expensive. The small $6 pizzas are so good! Nice selection of pastas and other Italian food, along with desserts. The chocolate lava cake is delicious. Everything is made to order, so don't expect the food to come out super fast. They give bread and crispy little breadsticks to eat while you wait. Compared to other restaurants on Main Street, it's very well priced. Do yourself a favor and eat here. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner

Where to start. ? As soon as Iwalked in the door ...the smell hit me. I don't know if they had water damage in the past and it's a mildew or moldy smell or it's just old, old building smell. I got used to it after about 10 minutes but it almost made me turn and walk out. Second, let's spend some money and have the bathrooms redone. The pictures of the cracks in the walls all the chipped and missing baseboards... how cramped as you walk in. The rust in the sinks and on the sides of the bathroom stalls.. Come on! They try to put on a nice ambience in the dining area with lots of pictures on the walls and candles scattered about.. The overhead lighting is attractive and dim. The booths are a decent color and they are not ripped or torn. A picture of the entrance way and the bar area are included. Now let's move on to the fact that they need to hire some help. I felt sorry for the waitress who apologized to everyone over and over.. She was so overwhelmed. And the busboy forgot a good many things because he was so overwhelmed. .Place was packed by 6pm. the mode of dress suggested this is a place where everyone in the neighborhood comes when they don't want to cook. No one was dressed up at all ....They state on the menu that everything is cooked to order so It was 40 minutes until we got our appetizer and another 20 after that for the meal. Well then they also need more kitchen help because the eight people next to us were all complaining about the long wait also. They were also complaining because several items from the menu were not available. I thought it but I didn't say it. For example how can you serve so much seafood and not have coleslaw? surf and turf and not have the right meat. Okay now let's attack the food. From the picture you can see they walked away while they were cooking the lobster and burned the top of it. IT was very chewy instead of tender. In other words my 45 dollar,14 oz Lobster was like eating an old shoe. 10 minutes after asking for ketchup I had to go get my own. The garlic broccoli rabe was okay. The side of pasta with oil and garlic was passable, but, the pasta was not drained well. There was a lot of water underneath. The shrimp scampi was good but not great. However, the Saving Grace was the red beet salad with gorgonzola. It has a simple dressing of balsamic vinegar and olive oil, but, it was very tasty and fresh. Just OK. Maybe we needed to try something else but the pasta fell flat for us. Cool old spot with a great location and tons of potential. The waitress that served us was very nice, but overall, the food menu could use an update. It is evident that the recipes are more on the “classic” side. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner

One of the best kept secrets in Northeast PA for great Italian food, just like Grandma used to make. The restaurant itself is like a doorway through time, which gives this place its very own charm, and makes for a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere. The service is always friendly, and the owner goes out of his way to make you feel at home. The prices are reasonable, and the food is consistently great. Can't recommend enough! One of my favorite restaurants with a rich history and old school feel. Anyone complaining about waiting for a freshly prepared meal which is made from scratch should stick to the drive through lane. If your lucky enough and you get to meet the owner you’ll understand that this place and every meal plated is his life and legacy. If your a fan of Pork I recommend the Pork Chops and you can never go wrong with the Zuppa Di Clams in white with a side of dry pasta (Use the white sauce on the pasta, thank me later!!) Historic family owned and operated since the 1950's,good quality traditional Italian dishes prepared with imported ingredients and traditional Italian style. Classic 50's style with up to date ballroom and meeting room/bar for dinners and events. Wonderful place for a wedding reception.
