Beautiful Ocean View at Atlantic City's inlet. I've heard great things about this place and have been to its other locations. The location is beautiful, right alongside the water with a friendly atmosphere. I ordered the Western Omelet with home fries and a side of French toast. The Omelet was decent, and the home fries could have used some seasoning, but they were decent as well. The French toast was well cooked, but it didn't come with any additional ingredients. Just plain eggs and toast. I was told by a friend that you have to specify what you want on your meal. Maybe that would have given more flavor to the meal. Next time, I will ask for seasoning on my home fries and cinnamon & powdered sugar on my French toast. The staff was friendly and let me bring in a beer, which was nice. It’s not worth the hype. We took the Jitney bus to this location. It’s a super small location. Looking at the exterior, I didn’t know if I wanted to get off the bus or not. We actually got off the bus but were in the back of the restaurant. It’s really strange because the back faces the street. We walked around the building and there was a covered outdoor area which is the entrance. The outdoor area is not bad. It’s right on the water. The inside dining area was very small, maybe 10 tables or less. We were seated in arms length of the ladies restroom. The “famous hotcakes” were thin and glossy and tasted rubbery. Been coming to Gilchrist for years. Great breakfast spot. Really good pancakes. Coffee is good too which is a bonus. My kids love the pancakes, peach or blueberry. Service is fast and friendly.
