"Cozy" place with mediocre food and grumpy service. We didn't have a reservation, so we got squeezed into the worst table, even though many tables were open at the time of our arrival. We didn't argue because the host/waitress was not very welcoming at all and did not appear to want to listen to anything we have to say anyway. We ordered Coke Zero and received Pepsi Max, €3.50 for 0.2 L ... that's steep. I ordered the Holsteiner Schnitzel and it says on the menu that it comes with unlimited salad and potatoes. My mom and my sister each ordered the Schweinelende with Brie Cheese, which also came with unlimited salad and potatoes. When my Schnitzel arrived, the grumpy waitress put down a small bowl of potatoes and a small salad which I thought was mine until my mom's and my sister's food arrived without any sides. The grumpy waitress then announced that we should share the tiny salad and the potatoes and then order more if we want more, then she walked away. We were kind of dumbfounded and started splitting up the tiny salad and the overdone potatoes. It took quite some time to get the server's attention again to order more potatoes and salad and then it took another quite some time to get another tiny salad and another order of way overdone potatoes. We were almost done with our meals by the time the unlimited side dishes arrived. What a joke. My Schnitzel was not bad, but it tasted like it was deep fried and not pan fried. The dish itself lacked some serious "moisture", I'd definitely recommend ordering a side of gravy with it, because the gravy was the best part of the other dish at the table, the pork tenderloin with brie cheese. The tenderloin was dry and did not work well with the bed of mixed veggies underneath. The gravy was good though. €81.50 later (1 Schnitzel, 2 pork tenderloin, 1 mineral water and 2 Pepsi Max), we all had the same opinion, "we definitely do not have to come back here". Nice Location in Callantsoog where you can get good food for also a good price. The stuff ist very friendly and attentive. We got Spare Ribs, a fish plate, salmon, Nachos with cheese and pepper steak. Everything was very good. This 3 Times were not our last visit in this restaurant. our dog was also a very welcome guest and that ist also very important for us. Nice Restaurant but very unfriendly Service. After sitting already for 15 min I dared to ask the waitress for the menu which I offered to get myself from inside . “Can’t you Be patient!” Was the answer- even though there weren’t many other guests and she didn’t seem very busy. Then after that only unfriendly glances and no friendly atmosphere at all from her side. Food was ok but not over the top and quite pricey. Lovely vibe and decor inside. Huge portions. Great staff. The sides for each dish were delivered in separate bowls, and they mentioned we could easily get more if desired - really cool to do the fries and salad and potato's separate from the entrees. Always a go.. easy to say when you live in the town also but in my opinion the best restaurant in town. Love the fish and their steaks are always cooked to perfection. Last time they made a mistake but was solved good and professionally so can't complain.
