The best Italian food I’ve ever had! My husband grew up coming here and we made the 2 hour drive to come for dinner. I’m obsessed. The history, the service, the atmosphere and THE FOOD. Food was FABULOUS! As good as I remember from over 30 years ago. If I had the free time, (was in town), and funds, I would come here at least weekly. Get variety and selection of choices on the menu. The initial service could have been quicker (had to wait much too long to order), my glass of wine was promptly served, but my water glass remained unfilled until just before my main dish arrived. Waitress did make an excellent recommendation for wine. Easily enough food left over to take home for lunch the next day. My wife thought the steak plated weird, being on 2 pieces of white toast next to a canned apricot... but the waiter fixed it for her no problem. Everything else was fine. They have some sauce option that we tried w the steak last time, it was like a bolus of garlic. First off the waiter we got bob was not the friendliest person out there. Took forever to order and when we got our appetizers the calamari we order was raw and not cooked it took us 20 minutes to get his attention and when we told him it was not cooked he acted like we were lying and said he would check with the kitchen who then told him that they set the wrong timer so he brought us out a new one which yet again was the same and the dipping sauce was changed to just ketchup in a cup, we mentioned it again and he only offered to bag it up for us then we waited for over an hour for our main course to be brought to us. The service sucks, the food was not cooked properly and I got food poisoning from them. It's sad to see that a once relevant restaurant has such low standards now that you have to pay for food that you didn't even eat because it wasn't cooked. I just came down there and ate dinner with my family. I spent $160 on dinner and it was amazing and I loved it. I asked the waitress for to go pizza and to go wings. I asked her for four things big things of extra blue cheese and four big containers of wings I didn’t get no wing sauce or got one little blue cheese got charged for all of it and then the pizza was awful when I got home and it wasn’t the drive because I’ve ordered pizza from there plenty of time and drove home and my pizza was fine. This was one of the most disgusting pizzas I’ve ever got from them it’s just tearing apart and was made very sloppy and it’s raw and when I tried to call and ask, they asked me if I could bring it back. I live 45 minutes away and then they want me to save the pizza until they’re open again to bring it back down there to them that is so inconsiderate and rude. This was my first visit to Cortese Restaurant. I had a craving for Spaghetti & Meatballs. It was crowded when I got there and was able to grab a seat at the bar right away. The bar tender was terrific, courteous and attentive to my needs. I ordered the Homemade Spaghetti with Marinara Sauce & Meatballs. It came with a salad which was very nice. The Marinara Sauce however was so garlicky that if you are not a fan of garlic it would be hard to eat. I am a fan of garlic as I cook with a lot of it. With that being said this sauce was over the top garlicky and borderline eatable. Just my opinion but make your own mind up when you try this dish.

Great meal at Cortese's. The veal is to die for! Salads were delicious, too. Gabby was a wonderful server... friendly and attentive. Stephen is an excellent chef, putting his touch on every meal. Nothing really wowed but nothing was truly terrible either. But i do feel their specialty pasta was really poor considering that it's highlighted as the specialty. I was personally really disappointed in the chef's pasta (spaghetti?) The noodles fell apart and completely lacked the slightly chewy feel that I look for in perfect fresh pasta. The potato soup was lovely. Everything else was okay but a little overcooked and not close to feeling memorable. Our waiter, however, was polite and well spoken, and attentive and nice, so definitely bonus points to them. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
