I am 74 and I've been going there since I was a kid and always loved the hot dogs "with the works". It seemed to be a different atmosphere and flavor of the meat sauce. Disappointed!

This place is history. I absolutely love the service and the food. Always so warm and welcoming. Art helped out our youth in a fundraiser we had, to help our youth go to world youth day to visit with the Pope in Portugal🇵🇹.
It's very community based and I love that our city holds this gem.

If you haven't been to Capitol Lunch, you have not gone to New Britain, CT.
They sell Martin Rosol hot dogs. The "sauce" is famous throughout the area.
If you order them with "everything", they will come with mustard, onions, and the sauce. There are other options and configurations, but I prefer to get them that way.
Bonus... You can burp hours later and enjoy the flavor all over again... Delightful!
They also sell Hamburgers/cheeseburgers, French fries, and onion rings.
The staff here is friendly. The owner is nice, and you will usually find him working alongside his crew.
They have some cool old photographs blown up and displayed along the wall so you can look at them while you're waiting in line. The line can get long, but usually goes quickly.
When ordering; Tell them how many dogs altogether in total, what you want on them, and whether it is for there or to go. That is the way the regulars do it and it makes the workers happy while keeping the line flowing. FYI, they are better when eaten there on the spot while they are hot.
There are no more tables for inside dining (for now). Prices have gone up, but still cheaper than other places (some at least) to get hotdogs. They now have a Combo/special which consists of 2 dogs, an order of fries, and a large drink. Not a bad deal, but I don't drink soda very often at all... The dogs are still good.
Apparently, they are now calling the chili dogs famous dogs. I don't like it. It’s a bit pretentious.

I've always heard this is the true "hotdog spot" in CT, so I had to give it a try. The dogs were outstanding, but the fires were just okay. That being said, this place specializes in hotdogs, so I can see why the sides are just average sides. Had to deal with a large lunch rush as well. Other than that, good service.

Historic spot with simple menu of good burgers, dogs, and traditional grill sides. Great spot for an unpretentious, quick bite. The famous hot dog is a go-to favorite. No frills, simple, honesty food served up quick by nice staff.
Capitol Lunch in New Britain perfects the art of keeping it simple. Fantastic food and fantastic service. Parking is easy on the street or in parking lot across the street. Once inside you step back in time to a luncheonette type of feel. Service is super friendly and everyone feels welcome. Hot dogs have a nice snap to them. The "famous" dog with mustard, onions and sauce is a great tasting combination. Fries and onion rings are cooked perfectly also. Definitely worth a visit to say you've been there ... and you'll go back again.

2 hot dogs, fries and a large drink for $9.99? Yes, please! I’ve never been here until recently but have heard about it for years. Let’s start with something I almost always talk about: I love my French fries to be crispy aka well done and 9/10 places either just ignore my request or their norm is just to undercook them for some reason, this place nailed it. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The hot dogs are Martin rosol’s which is the second best only to hummels and they were fantastic. Just so you know, “the sauce” is their chili. I didn’t know this and got two with the sauce so had to get two without after I finished them. I’ll say, I prefer making the dogs my way which could or could not include the sauce. The burger (which is only cooked well done) is still a good, flavorful burger and their in-house made grape look aid is really good too. Definitely give them a try if you have never been and you are in the mood for some classic hot dog and hamburgers.

Classic perfection. Their consistency is their strength. I had the same classic meatsauce, onion, and mustard dog yesterday that I had in 1983. And, they still have the grape drink, like I was 15.
