We found Astra last week for dinner, food was delicious, really enjoyed the seafood risotto my husband had their Wahoo fish which he loved. The smoked salmon and coconut shrimp appetizers were amazing, we definitely will be back.

We came for one thing and one thing only-lobsters! Order it grilled or thermidor, head out to the largest tank ever and pick who you want to eat. Neat experience and the freshest tank to table ever.
Disappointing to see folks rate them low just because lobsters cost money. Right now everywhere on island is about $30/pound. Think ours were $28 the other night. This place is known for big ones, so know you are gonna pay for it ahead of time and enjoy the feast!

A wonderful place to dine if you are in St Maarten. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area. The atmosphere and ambiance are really nice. The restaurant has more space than its local neighbors. yes, the food is a little pricier, but the restaurant is a little nicer as well; so, you have to take it in context. Also, they are known for their lobster and lobster isn't cheap so let's get real. Don't come expecting to eat some of the largest and best lobsters for the price of a chain restaurant hamburger!
Let's get into it. The PRO's and CON's. Let's start with the CON's first because there weren't that many. But how can you have that many when you are on a Caribbean Island with wonderful weather and beautiful locals.
CON's
* As mentioned earlier, the price can be a shocker if you're not being realistic; so not really a CON. Only a con if you are "conning" yourself - lobster cost more than burgers, :-)
* Though still a nice view, you're facing the bay versus out into the ocean.
PRO's
* Wonderful restaurant with well laid out floor plan and ambiance.
* Meeting area for social group get-togethers in the back along the bay.
* Incredible wait and service staff; say hello to Claudia for us if you go. She was so welcoming and provided outstanding service.
* The chef had a great menu with many options: mussels, octopus, calamari, great salads, etc.
* Always open at the right times.
* Easily within walking distance from any of the local lodging locations.
* A must-see open water lobster tank.
* Pick your own lobster from the tank!
* If you have the appetite, they have some of the biggest lobsters I have ever seen.
* Lobsters tasted incredible. I had mine grilled and seasoned. OK, my mouth is salivating thinking about it now.
I encourage a visit and have a lobster if you're in the area. One of my best meals while in St Maarten.

Claudia was our waitress. She was incredible and friendly. very attentive and made the meal so much more enjoyable.
I selected a lobster ~4 lbs. Look how big it was on my plate! And that's one of their smaller lobsters.

Met friends for dinner here on a Monday. It was quite and the server stood over us at most times (maybe he was bored) waiting to take our order or accomodate anything we needed. It was pricey but was good.
I liked the open water lobster tank at the end of the dock. This place wasn't bad but didn't leave an impression good or bad.

Loved eating at this restaurant. It was the night celebrating my husbands birthday. We actually ended up here by default since all my other choices were closed. It was very elegant. The setting was perfect for a romantic dinner. It was right by the water. The food was great. Great quality. They sung Happy Birthday to my husband. Overall perfect experience. Friendly staff as well.

Wonderful atmosphere with great view of the Simpson Bay lagoon! Colorful vibe with soft piano music. Service was good, though a little slow, but we were in no hurry to leave this lovely atmosphere. Both prawn stuffed grouper and seafood risotto were good portions and delicious! Drinks were reasonably priced and nicely poured. Give this place a try!!

This was a great dinner experience. I got to choose and catch the lobster I wanted for dinner. Claudia, our server was the best. The atmosphere was classy and the music was great. A must go and return
Best restaurant on the island! Best french onion soup, best lobster Mac n cheese, awesome seafood pasta and conch fritters. You cannot beat them for fresh lobster and the view is breath taking! Absolutely best mushroom risotto ever!
