So far this is our favorite restaurant in town. Best dinner experience in DSM. It seems like nothing can go wrong here. every single food we tried was amazing. Staff is very professional. This is a hard restaurant to rate, solid food, but for the price point, I expected to have high-end flavors. Ambiance and service were great, but I really expected more from the food. My husband and I got the aged ribeye, petite filet, Brussels sprouts, Fleming’s potatoes, and crème brûlée. Aged ribeye - unfortunately the aging gave it a taste like “refrigerator”, not the more beefy/depthy flavor. This might be an issue on the restaurants part. Petite filet - it was fine, I’m not a salt-crazy person, but I ended up having to ask for salt and pepper, as there was little to no seasoning. It was cooked to a perfect medium temperature though. Brussels sprouts - I don’t say this lightly, my homemade ones taste identical. I’m NOT a professional cook. But basic seasoning and balsamic vinegar can get you identical tasting Brussels sprouts. I would just expect something more high end than “homemade tasting” for the price point. Flemings potatoes - Again, very homemade tasting. They do have jalapeño in them, but the taste is nearly identical to a pack of frozen Potato O’Brien potatoes that are more cheesed up/creamed up at home. Finally, Creme Brûlée - very good, solid fresh whipped cream and fruit, as well. The service and ambiance are very high end, but unfortunately the recipes/flavors are not. So a couple weeks ago I asked my husband who has stage 4 brain cancer, if there was anything special he wanted to do. His answer was try a true dry aged steak. So I made reservations for this evening January 19th. We were amazed at how good it was. Most definitely the best steaks we have ever eaten! So I asked the waiter for the bill and and he made us both cry said it was on the house. They heard us talking about the cancer. I would highly recommend trying this wonderful place that still cares about people. Thank you Flemings we really enjoyed the meal and your hospitality. Our waiter was fantastic too! We've been dining at Flemings less and less but decided to go there recently. We sat in the bar and ordered drinks & appetizers along with bread. Another table top and booth family came in after us and was already on drinks & bread before our drinks ever arrived. As our waiter (who was friendly enough) took our order I was again annoyed at the number of times he said "absolutely". This must be a Flemings customer service mandate as I've never heard it uttered anywhere else or with the frequency as the servers do at Flemings. The filet sandwich I got was way too salty as were the french fries. The restaurant was pretty much empty and I think they make their money via the bar area.
